EdTech Landscape 2023: What are most schools using?

In 2022, the commonly used Edtech tools in K-12 education included learning management systems (LMS), online assessment tools, educational software and apps, and interactive whiteboards. However, the EdTech landscape is constantly evolving, and new technologies are emerging all the time.

With tools consistently entering the market and upgraded software features, it can be difficult to keep up with the newest and most useful applications for even the most tech-savvy teachers.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) – AI is the leading innovation in the technology sector today, transforming education and learning experiences for students. Chatbots, Google Maps, Social Media, ChatGPT, and the like, all generate real-time texts, feedback, content and present a window of opportunity to accelerate today’s teaching. Since 2000, robots and automation systems have slowly phased out many manufacturing jobs — 1.7 million of them. On the other hand, it’s predicted that AI will create 97 million new jobs by 2025.

Virtual and Augmented Reality – These technologies help provide immersive learning experiences, encouraging students to explore complex concepts in a more engaging and interactive way. Until now, A new study from online learning platform Brainly found that nearly 73 percent of students surveyed believed augmented reality and VR would be valuable to their studies.

Gamification – Gamification involves using game elements to make learning more fun and engaging. This approach is becoming increasingly popular in K-12 education. Duolingo, for example, is a language eLearning tool that uses gamification to increase user engagement through earning achievement badges and higher leagues on the scoreboard. Currently, Duolingo offers courses in over 40 languages to over 45 million monthly active users.

Mobile Learning – With the growing popularity of mobile devices, mobile learning is becoming more common across K-12 education. Mobile devices can be used to provide students with access to learning materials and resources anytime and anywhere.
